Tuesday Evening Speaker Series: Going in Circles - Canoeing the Great Lakes
Three years ago Steve Brede completed a goal to paddle his canoe around the entire shoreline of all five Great Lakes. In 2009 he quit his job and embarked on a series of summer paddles of each of the Great Lakes, beginning with Lake Huron. He followed Huron with circuits of Lake Michigan in 2010, Lake Erie in 2012, and Lake Ontario in 2013. He paddled the south shore of Lake Superior in 2014, and finished with the north shore in 2015. The voyages taught him about self-reliance and the generosity of strangers, and instilled in him a reverence for the lakes and a concern for their future. His presentation will feature slides culled from the thousands of photos he took on his voyage. No cost, but donations are appreciated.
